Psalm 90:1-91:16

Chapter 90
1 A prayer of Moses, man of God. Lord, you have been a dwelling place for us in generation after generation. 2 Before the mountains gave birth and you travailed the land and the earth, from everlasting to everlasting you are God. 3 You turn mankind back to dust, and you say, "Return, O sons of man." 4 For a thousand years in your eyes are like yesterday when it passes by, or like a watch in the night. 5 You flood them away; in the morning they are like grass that passes away. 6 In the morning it flourishes and passes away; toward the evening it is withered and dried up. 7 For we are consumed by your anger, and by your wrath we are terrified. 8 You have set our iniquities before you; we have considered them in the light of your face. 9 For all our days turn in your wrath; we finish our years like a mutter. 10 The days of our years are seventy years in them, and if by strength, eighty years; and their pride is toil and iniquity, for it is cut off swiftly and we fly away. 11 Who knows the power of your anger, and your wrath like your fear? 12 Teach us to number our days so that we may gain a heart of wisdom. 13 Return, O LORD! How long? And relent over your servants. 14 Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may shout for joy and rejoice all our days. 15 We rejoiced as in the days of our affliction, the years when we saw moral evil. 16 Let your work appear to your servants and your majesty to their sons. 17 And let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands upon us; yes, establish the work of our hands.

Chapter 91
1 He who dwells in the hiding place of the Most High will lodge in the shadow of the LORD. 2 I say to the LORD, "My refuge and my stronghold, my God, in whom I trust." 3 For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence. 4 He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will seek refuge; his truth will be his shield and buckler. 5 You will not fear the dread of night, the destruction flying by day. 6 He will not fear plague that walks in darkness, nor devastation that strikes at noon. 7 A thousand will fall at your side and ten thousand at your right hand; it will not come near you. 8 Only with your eyes you will look, and the full payment of the wicked you will see. 9 For you, the LORD, Most High, are my Refuge; you have made your dwelling. 10 No calamity will befall you, and no plague will come near your tent. 11 For he will command his angels to keep you in all your ways. 12 They will bear you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. 13 You will tread on lion and asp; you will trample young lion and dragon. 14 Because he has set his love upon me, I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known my name. 15 He will call to me, and I will answer him; I am with him; in distress I will deliver him, and I will honor him. 16 I will satisfy him with long life, and I will show him my salvation.
